William "Bill" Earl Duckett, 88 passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at his home in Ledbetter, KY. Bill was born on September 16, 1936, in Paducah to the late Paul Harold and Audrey Duckett.
A dedicated US Army veteran, Bill served from January 1955 until December 1957, demonstrating his commitment to his country. He retired from BF Goodrich in 1994, marking the end of a significant chapter in his professional life. Bill was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his unwavering dedication to his family and faith. He was an active member of Rickman Road Baptist Church, where he cherished his church family.
Bill's passion for sports was evident in his love for UK Basketball, which he followed avidly throughout his life. His coaching career at Lakeland Christian Academy in Calvert City from 1978 to 1990 marked one of his proudest accomplishments. Under his guidance, his team celebrated a national title in 1986 among Christian High Schools at the NACA National Tournament. Fondly referred to as "Coach," Bill's impact on young athletes was profound and lasting. Beyond his involvement in sports and community service, Bill had a well-known affection for Ford Cars, a hobby that brought him joy throughout his life.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda Cooper Duckett of Ledbetter, KY; one son, William E. Duckett, Jr. of Ledbetter, KY; two daughters, Ronda Gail Aucoin (Russell) of Paducah, KY, and Kimberly Ann McChristian (Bob) of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Glenn Thomas Duckett (Phyllis) of Paducah, KY, and Harold Wayne Duckett (Brenda) of Moline, IL; one sister, Dorothy Sue Meeks of Paducah; seven grandchildren, Rusty Aucoin (Sara) of Calvert City, KY, Megan McClain (Cody) of Madisonville, KY, Nicole Aucoin of Possum Trot, KY, Jessica Aucoin of Paducah, KY, Makenzie Taylor (Jacob) of Paducah, KY, David Duckett of Ledbetter, KY, and Mikaela McChristian of Paducah, KY; and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Aucoin, William Aucoin, and Zennith Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Harold and Audrey Duckett.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home in Paducah, KY. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Rickman Road Missionary Church in West Paducah, with Bro. Stan Durrett officiating. Burial will follow at Cothran Cemetery in Smithland, Kentucky.
Bill Duckett will be remembered fondly for his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering spirit. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the family and friends who loved him dearly. Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Duckett family.
