Shirley Winstead

Shirley Winstead, age 86 of Paducah died Thursday, May 4, 2023 at her residence.  She was born the daughter of the late Jess Conkwright, and the late Marie Morgan Conkwright.  She was a former teachers aide and loved working with children.  She and her husband served in many different ministries within their church.  She has worked with the youth department where she taught Sunday school, and was a frequent camp counselor at teen camp in the summer.  She sang in the choir, worked in the deaf ministry as a deaf interpreter, and was part of multiple mission trips.  She followed many different sports including college basketball, The NFL, and loved traveling to watch her girls and granddaughters play softball.  Most recently she and her husband loved spending time with the church friends at Friday night "Game Night".  She was a member of Southland Baptist Temple.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023 at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home in Paducah with Pastor Jimmy Franks and Jonathan Goodman officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Monday, May 8, 2023 at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.  Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Winstead family.

She is survived by her daughters: Diana Monroe of Paducah, and Karen Dooper Peyton (Thad) of West Paducah; her brothers: Larry Conkwright of Paducah, Tony Conkwright of Paducah, and Chip Conkwright of Cottontown, Tennessee; her sisters: Debbie Frazier of Paducah, Wanda “Benny” Denton (Larry) of Evansville, Indiana, and Marsha Cothron of Wolfe, Texas; her eight grandchildren, her 10 great grandchildren, her three great-great grandchildren; and her "adopted son": David Jeffords.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Richard Winstead; her sons: Richard Winstead, Jr., and Dwayne Winstead; her brothers: Jesse Conkwright, and Bobby Conkwright; her sisters: Byrl Weil, and Faye Conkwright; and her grandson: Josh Monroe.
