Sarah Marlene Helton

Sarah "Sissy" Marlene Helton, age 76, was called to her eternal home on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, embraced by the love of her family. Born in Paducah on January 20, 1948, Sarah was the beloved daughter of the late Rev. Eldridge "Smitty" and Mary Smith. 

Sarah was a woman of faith, rooted in her local community. She attended Eastside Holiness Church and Fellowship Assembly of Jesus Christ. Her life revolved around her love for family and friends, and she found joy in these cherished relationships and the time she spent with each one.

A dedicated and compassionate soul, Sarah made her mark in the community as a Dispatcher for the Paducah-McCracken County E911, from which she eventually retired. 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sarah’s life during a funeral service held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home, with her brother-in-law, Rev. Rocky Hill and her nephew, Rev. Josh Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A visitation will take place Monday morning from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Sarah leaves behind a loving family to honor her memory: her son, Mark Helton; her daughter, Sarah Dawn Hayden and son-in-law Mark; two granddaughters, Sydney Hayden Brenzo and her husband D'mitri, and Meagan Hayden; her sister, Diane Hill and husband Rev. Rocky Hill; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Gene Helton; one sister, Margaret Smith Mills; her brother, Arlie "Beaver" Smith; and her dear grandson, Bric Carroll. 

In true spirit of Sarah’s warm heart and generous nature, friends are invited to join the family for a dinner following the service, at Fellowship Assembly of Jesus Christ, 2150 Oaks Road, Paducah, KY 42003.
