Charlie Wheatley Mayes age 81 of Paducah, passed away May 2, 2016 at 10:35 P.M. at the Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of Paducah. Mr. Mayes was a native of Bevier Clinton, Ky. born July 4, 1934 to his parents, the late Pleasant Mayes and Myrtle Mitchell Mayes. Mr. Mayes was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church of Paducah. He moved to Pontiac MI. at the age of 16 and at the age of 18 was called by the Lord to preach his gospel. He became an assistant to the Rev. Atwell, and started pasturing a church in Lansing MI. at the age of 38. He has pastured, 5 churches, overseer of 7 churches in Paris France, traveled to Africa over 20 times where he started churches and has ministered in Haiti twice. He love to preach the gospel, enjoyed reading his bible and all religious books. He was author of three books, Spirit Baptism, A Life of Miracles, and By His Stripes We Are Healed. He also attended two collages, and taught the Dale Carnegie Class, beside preaching, he taught Sunday School was Sunday Superintendent and trained ushers and usherettes. He was the master of ceremonies at the campground in Shepherdsville, KY. for several years. Mr. Mayes also was a cook by profession as well as home and loved to do it. He is survived by his ministering team, his wife, Clara Bonds Mayes and daughter, Regina Mayes both of Paducah. His sister, Martha Dunford of Belleville, MI. Besides his parents , he was preceded in death by three brothers. Funeral Service will be held Thursday May 5, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Keeling Family Funeral Home 2410 Jackson Street Paducah, KY. 42003, with the Rev.. Mike Hunt, Rev Encil Edmonds and Rev. Glenn Goodwin Officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City, KY. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday May 4, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. till funeral hour.
