Janice Faye Watkins, a devoted registered nurse who dedicated many years of her life to serving others at Western Baptist Hospital, has sadly passed away. She peacefully departed this world on October 27, 2023, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. Janice was born in Graves County, Kentucky on August 12, 1957.
Janice's career as a registered nurse was marked by compassion and unwavering commitment to her patients. Her strong work ethic and genuine care for others made her an invaluable member of the healthcare community. Janice's dedication earned her the respect and admiration of both colleagues and patients alike.
Outside of her professional life, Janice reveled in spending time with her beloved church family at Southland Baptist Temple. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she cherished the moments shared with the members of her congregation. Janice truly embodied the spirit of love and kindness that radiated within the walls of Southland Baptist Temple. Janice loved farming and anything that "John Deere Green".
Family meant everything to Janice, and she treasured every precious moment spent with them. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love and devotion. James Watkins, her husband of 32 years, stood by her side through thick and thin, providing unwavering support and companionship.
Janice was also blessed with the joy of motherhood. Elizabeth Reynolds, daughter to Janice and her husband Dustin, reside in Clarksville, Tennessee. Additionally, David Watkins and his wife Carly from California will remember their step-mother with fondness. Jenny Perkins and her husband Steve from Warsaw, Indiana were fortunate to have been part of Janice's life as well.
In addition to her immediate family members, Janice is survived by seven grandchildren who brought immense joy into her life. With one more grandchild on the way, she eagerly anticipated welcoming another cherished addition to the family. One great granddaughter was also lucky enough to be loved and embraced by Janice during her time on earth.
Janice Faye Watkins had an adventurous spirit and loved having a good time with those around her. From her childhood on the farm, where she learned the value of hard work right beside her father, Janice carried that sense of determination throughout her life. She fearlessly drove tractors and operated other farm equipment, her father often referring to her as his "boy." The memories of those early years formed an unbreakable bond between father and daughter.
When it came to hobbies and interests, Janice found solace in creative pursuits. She thoroughly enjoyed scrapbooking and making homemade cards, utilizing these skills to preserve precious memories for herself and others. Attending scrapbooking parties was a special delight for Janice, as she eagerly exchanged fresh ideas with fellow enthusiasts.
Her deep commitment to her church led Janice to actively engage in various ministries. She wholeheartedly dedicated herself to The Brook, a feeding center for the homeless, where she extended compassion and support to those in need. Additionally, she played an integral role in "The Gift," Southland Baptist Temple's cherished annual Christmas production.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours that will be held on Monday October 30, 2023, at Southland Baptist Temple located at 927 Yarbro Ln in Paducah, Kentucky. The visitation will commence at 5 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m., allowing ample time for loved ones to gather together and honor Janice's memory.
A Funeral Service celebrating Janice's life will follow on Tuesday October 31, 2023, also at Southland Baptist Temple. Beginning at 11 a.m., this solemn ceremony will serve as a tribute to the remarkable woman who touched so many lives through her kindness and generosity. Friends and family are encouraged to attend this final farewell as we bid farewell to a cherished soul.
Janice Faye Watkins will be remembered as an extraordinary woman whose love knew no bounds. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all those she touched. May her gentle soul find eternal peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
