George Franklin Adkins was born August 13, 1942 in Paducah Ky. and he entered Heaven on Saturday September 14, 2013 at 4:45 P.M. surrounded by his loving family and friends.
George retired from James Marine after working 40 years in the Paducah River Harbor as a tugboat pilot. He was of the Christian Faith . He served in the U. S. Army in the Germany conflict. He loved fishing, camping and riding his motor scooter. Most of all he enjoyed being a wonderful husband, daddy, and PaPa and uncle. He was a very avid watcher of the old western classic movies. George is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wilma Miller Adkins. One daughter, Jana Adkins Crabtree ( Chuck ), two grandchildren Beth Ann Crabtree and Will Crabtree all of Hopkinsville, KY. One brother, Wilburn (Duck ) Adkins(Judy) of Paducah. Five sister-in-laws Gracie Howle (Terry), Janice Puckett (Jerry ) Betty Patterson all of Paducah. Ruth Ann Thomason( David ) of Calvert City, KY., Barbara Southern( Darrel) of St. Mary's GA. two brother in -laws, William( Bill) Miller (Linda) and Bob Ed Miller of Paducah. And a Special friend Danny Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. Adkins and Gladys Scott Adkins. One brother, Noah W. Adkins two sisters, Ann Funderburk and Loretta Boren, father-in-law William(Dub) Miller mother-in-law Edna Hall Miller, and sister in law Glenda K. Ritchie.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday September 17, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. the Keeling Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Hatcher officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be at a later date. Family request memorials be given to the Oak Grove Cemetery- Charles Cooper P.O. Box 137 Ledbetter, KY.42058
