Henry Clay Elrod age 82 of Ledbetter, Ky. passed away Saturday June 21, 2014 at 6:34 A.M. at his residence.
Mr. Elrod was born June 18, 1932 in Symsonia, Ky to the late Henry Elrod and Lillie Farmer Elrod Paris. Mr. Elrod was a very active member of the Woodlawn Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was the founding owner and operator of the Southside Machine Shop where he has been very active since 1979. He leaves behind his wife, Rhoda Sheron James Elrod, two daughters, Hollia Elrod Wortham ( Brent ) of Symsonia, and Hilda Elrod Cronch ( Ronnie ) of Reidland. Step daughter, Crystal Keeling (Randy ) of Symsonia and a stepson, Mark Gamblin (Nancy) of Florida. Five sisters, Edith Carper, Ruby Lewis, June Wyatt all of Benton, KY. Elizabeth Price of Talbott, TN. and Bertha Finch of Paducah. Twelve grandchildren, Clay Brent Wortham ( Anita ), Luke Elrod Wortham, Benjamin Thomas Wortham ( Amanda), Lauren Rose Wortham, John Nathaniel Wortham, Oliva Susan Wortham, Scott Cronch (Robin), Ashley Babb ( Gary), Nadia Satterwhite (Kent), Abigal Oglesby (Jason), Seth Cronch ( LaDonna), Ian Cronch (Lauren). Five step grandchildren, Justin Keeling (Lydia), Josh Keeling, Marcus Gamblin, Bryson Gamblin, and Alec Gamblin. Nine great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents Clay was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue McCoyle Elrod, two brothers, Ernest Elrod, and Earl Elrod, two sisters, Lena Farmer and Barbara Nell Elrod, a half sister, Myrtle Farmer and a stepson Todd Gamblin.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday June 24,2014 at the Woodlawn Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bud Russell and Rev. Ed Boone officiating. Entombment will follow in the Symsonia Cemetery. Friends may visit the family Monday June 23, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. at the Keeling Family Funeral Home and at the church Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. till funeral hour.
