Charley Faye Beyer, 83, of Panama City Beach, FL, died Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Vitas Hospice Care Center in Panama City, FL.
Faye was born October 2, 1939, the only daughter of the late Charles William and Vellon Taylor Vance of Kevil, KY. She, along with her high school sweetheart, Dr. Louis Martin Beyer, graduated from Heath High School and then went on to Murray State University. Faye and Louis were married on September 5, 1959. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Murray, KY, since college, and up until her passing. Faye held a Master’s degree in Education, and was a teacher with Murray City School system for about 30 years, until she retired for the birth of first grandchild. After retirement, Louis and Faye moved to Kentucky Lake Subdivision where they enjoyed boating and celebrating community activities, as well as traveling. She was a leader in the Homemakers Association, volunteering for their charities and creating cookbooks. She also enjoyed hosting family and friends for cookouts and Holiday meals.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Dr. Tracy J. Beyer of Panama City Beach, FL; her son, Steven L. Beyer (Linda) of Lexington, KY; and three grandchildren, Logan Mathew Beyer (Sydney Sampson) of Panama City Beach, FL, Nicole Hopkins of Lexington, KY, and Matthew Hopkins of Beavercreek, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Louis Martin Beyer, Professor of Physics at Murray State University.
A small Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah, KY. A Life Celebration, catered by Linn and Mary Susan Beyer of Dairyette, will follow at Jonquil Place in Paducah from 3:00 till 7:00 PM.
